How to come to Nantes

By plane

Nantes Atlantique International Airport (NTE) links Nantes to the principal European cities via a dense international and domestic flight network. You can find a map of the cities air-connected to Nantes here.

The airport shuttle provides direct connections to the city center within less than 30 minutes. The shuttle has a timetable adapted to scheduled flights (available on the TAN website), no extra charge for luggage and stops at the city's main points: the city center (Place du Commerce) and the SNCF railway station. You can buy your ticket (8 euros) from the shuttle driver or online. The ticket is valid 1 hour on the airport shuttle and throughout the TAN network.

By Train

Nantes has excellent railway connections with the rest of France. Every day, 21 high-speed trains (TGV) connect Nantes with Paris in 2 hours, and with Lyon and Lille in 4 hours. There are also several daily TGV connections (2h50) with Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport (Paris).

Tickets can be booked and purchased online. You can print the ticket yourself or you can retrieve your tickets in a French station with the credit card that was used to pay for it. Further details are available here.

Travelling in the city


Nantes has a dense bus and tram network (maps of the network and fares can be consulted on the TAN website). The tramway line from the city center "Commerce" or from the station to the conference building is Line 1 towards Jamay or François Mitterand. The stop is Chantiers Navals. Tickets are valid for an hour for all buses and tramways (even if you have a connection). Whereas they can be bought from the bus drivers on board, they can't be bought on board the tram but have to be bought at the tram station before boarding.

The conference will take place in the building of the former shipyard, 2 rue Léon Bureau, on Nantes Island / Île de Nantes. Tramway 1, Station "Chantiers navals".

For a holiday-like feeling, there is also a campsite in the city which rents fully equipped bungalows and which is a 30-minute tram ride from the conference place (cottages for four people can be rented from 60 € per night).
